What happens after I make a booking?
Once you’ve confirmed the date and time of your appointment, you will be redirected to Stripe where you will make the payment for it. A booking confirmation will be sent to you.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. We accept self-pay self referrals. We can share a summary with your GP if you wish.
Why do I see an imaging specialist before I see a dermatology consultant?
How quickly will I get results from my initial assessment?
Usually within 72 hours after the consultant review. If it’s urgent, we’ll call you sooner.
Will I definitely need a second assessment?
Not always. Many patients can be managed from their initial assessment with a prescription plan and advice. If a procedure or full exam is needed, we’ll bring you in promptly.
Is this service suitable for children?
We currently facilitate patients 16 years old and over. We will launch a paediatric service soon.
What if an abnormal change in my skin, such as a lesion, looks suspicious?
We prioritise these cases for urgent in person review and arrange appropriate escalation if required.
What do I bring to my appointment?
- Details of any current medication, and any previous treatment you’ve had
- Your GP referral, if you have one, though we accept self-referrals
- A list of any allergies you may have, and your key medical history
- Photos of flare ups if your symptoms are intermittent
Can I claim the cost of my dermatology appointment through my health insurance?
Following your attended appointment at our Galway clinic or after your tele dermatology imaging consultation, we will provide you with a detailed invoice.
You can submit this invoice directly to the claims department of your health insurance provider for review.
Please note that reimbursement is not guaranteed, as this will depend on your individual policy and level of cover. We recommend contacting your health insurer in advance to confirm whether your appointment may be eligible for reimbursement.
