Medical Dermatology Service

(Launching March 2026)

Fast, expert skin care for self‑pay patients across the West & Northwest

About the service

We’re launching a new Medical Dermatology service to make it faster and easier to get help for skin conditions—especially if you’re waiting to see a consultant dermatologist or prefer self‑pay access.
Our clinic is based in Galway, serving patients from Sligo, Roscommon, Mayo, Donegal, Clare, Limerick, and Leitrim with convenient appointments and clear pricing.

Who this service is for:

  • Adults and teens (over 16 years of age) with rashes, acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, or chronic itching
  • People with moles, lesions, or sun‑damaged skin who want a rapid review
  • Patients who’ve been waiting to see a dermatologist and want quicker access
  • Anyone seeking private, self‑pay dermatology care with a clear pathway and reliable follow‑up

Our Two‑Phase Care Pathway

Phase 1 — Nurse‑Led Teledermatology (At Our Galway Clinic)

A specially trained dermatology nurse will carry out a structured skin assessment using medical‑grade imaging in our Galway facility.

What’s included:

  • Focused skin history and symptom review
  • High‑resolution clinical and dermoscopic images (taken securely on site by a Medinet Nurse)
  • Medication review and red‑flag screening
  • Consultant dermatologist tele‑review of your case (results within 72 hours)
  • Personalised care plan: self‑care guidance, prescriptions (if appropriate), and/or escalation to Phase 2

Why this works: Most common conditions can be triaged and managed quickly with telederm + imaging. If your case needs a procedure or in‑person assessment, we’ll move you straight to Phase 2.

Phase 2 — Face‑to‑Face Dermatologist Appointment (Galway)

If the consultant recommends it, you’ll be scheduled for an in‑person review with our dermatologist in Galway.

What can happen at this visit:

  • Full skin examination and dermoscopy
  • Minor procedures (if clinically indicated): punch/shave biopsy, cryotherapy, intralesional injections, simple lesion removals
  • Treatment optimisation: prescription plans, phototherapy referral guidance, escalation to secondary care if required

Conditions We See & Treat

Inflammatory skin disease:

acne, rosacea, eczema/atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis

Pigmented lesions & moles:

assessment for change and biopsy if needed

FAQs

Do I need a GP referral?

No. We accept self‑pay self‑referrals. We can share a summary with your GP if you wish.

How quickly will I get results from Phase 1?

Usually within 72 hours after the consultant review. If urgent, we’ll call you sooner.

No, currently we can only facilitate patients 16 years old and over. We will launch a paediatric service soon.

  • Current medications and prior treatments tried
  • GP referral (optional) — self‑referrals accepted
  • List of allergies and key medical history
  • Photos of flare‑ups if your symptoms are intermittent
